New Driver on August 25

-- Sent from my Palm Pre

DeeJay took his driving test on Tuesday, August 25 and passed. Then we went to get his license. I shed a tear that day, both of sadness and joy. Sad that he is growing up so fast and will soon be out on his own and no longer need me. Joyous to watch him grow into a wonderful young man and see all that God has planned for him.

Just wanted to share the pictures of a card I made for a friend's baby shower.

To all my fellow parents, this is a little long, but I thought you might enjoy it......

Poem to MOM/DAD

My son came home from school one day,
With a smirk upon his face.
He decided he was smart enough,
To put me in my place.

'Guess what I learned in Civics Two,
that's taught by Mr. Wright?
It's all about the laws today,
The 'Children's Bill of Rights.'

It says I need not clean my room,
Don't have to cut my hair
No one can tell me what to think,
Or speak, or what to wear.

I have freedom from religion,
And regardless what you say,
I don't have to bow my head,
And I sure don't have to pray.

I can wear earrings if I want,
And pierce my tongue & nose.
I can read & watch just what I like,
Get tattoos from head to toe.

And if you ever spank me,
I'll charge you with a crime.
I'll back up all my charges,
With the marks on my behind.

Don't you ever touch me,
My body's only for my use,
Not for your hugs and kisses,
that's just more child abuse.

Don't preach about your morals,
Like your Mama did to you.
That's nothing more than mind control,
And it's illegal too!

Mom, I have these children's rights,
So you can't influence me,
Or I'll call Children's Services Division,
Better known as C.S.D.'

Mom's Reply and Thoughts

Of course my first instinct was
To toss him out the door.
But the chance to teach him a lesson
Made me think a little more.

I mulled it over carefully,
I couldn't let this go.
A smile crept upon my face,
he's messing with a pro.

Next day I took him shopping
At the local Goodwill Store.
I told him, 'Pick out all you want,
there's shirts & pants galore.

I've called and checked with C.S.D ........
Who said they didn't care
If I bought you K-Mart shoes
Instead of those Nike Airs.

I've canceled that appointment
To take your driver's test.
The C..S.D. Is unconcerned
So I'll decide what's best..

I said 'No time to stop and eat,
Or pick up stuff to munch.
And tomorrow you can start to learn
To make your own sack lunch.

Just save the raging appetite,
And wait till dinner time.
We're having liver and onions,
A favorite dish of mine..'

He asked 'Can I please rent a movie,
To watch on my VCR?'
'Sorry, but I sold your TV,
For new tires on my car.
I also rented out your room,
You'll take the couch instead.
The C .S.D. Requires
Just a roof over your head.

Your clothing won't be trendy now,
I'll choose what we eat.
That allowance that you used to get,
Will buy me something neat.

I'm selling off your jet ski,
Dirt-bike & roller blades.
Check out the 'Parents Bill of Rights',
It's in effect today!

Hey hot shot, are you crying,
Why are you on your knees?
Are you asking God to help you out,
Instead of C.S.D..?

Or those who will be parents someday OR ANYONE WHO'D JUST GET A LAUGH

Birthday Card Swap

I have found a new fun thing to do with my scrapbooking, SWAPS! For those that don't know what swaps are, it's when you sign up for with a group of people to make things and then swap out what you have made for what the other people have made. I am currently doing swaps on the Cardmaker Magazine forum. I have done a bookmark, some Christmas cards and here is the Birthday card I made for another swap. Let me know what you think.

Jay's Birthday

We celebrated Jay's birthday today, we had the family over as usual and everyone had a good time. He received all money as gifts, which for a teenager is always welcome. I love when the family comes over and we just eat, laugh and have a good time together.

99 and still going...

WOW, 3/16/09 was my Grandmother-in-love's (she is much more than a grandmother-in-law) 99th birthday! She is about 4'8" and has dementia which makes my Parents-in-love's (they are much more than parents-in-law) life quite interesting. She can't remember things that happened 5 minutes before, but she can give us details of the time she work at a cafeteria 40+ years ago. I love to listen to her stories, when she is feeling good, and she seems to enjoy having the family around her. She can barely get around, she says the movement makes her short of breath. She is still pretty fiesty at times and makes us laugh with some of the things she says. I wish her happiness and pain-free days for however long God allows her to be with us. Happy Birthday Grandma!

B Ball at the Y

On 3/14/09 my daughter had her first ever basketball game. She was so excited all week to first attend practice and then to be able to play in an actual game. Their team name is the Wildcats, (too much high school musical) and they did pretty good.

There are 2 boys and 5 girls on the team. Most of the other teams in the league have at least 9 players so our team has to play most of the game. There are 2 little girls on the team that really could care less about playing. They were especially excited to sit out for a quarter.

They don't keep score at this age group and the team played hard. We were very proud of them all.

I had a crop/wii party at my house on Saturday and I think it was a success. Two of my scrapbooking buddies and their children came over, my cousins and their son, my nephew and one of my son's friends. We had tacos and lots of laughter and talking. I made cards for an upcoming card swap and I think they turned out pretty good.

What do you think?

Just wanted to share another one of my favorite photos. My daughter, who happens to be a drama queen in training, was about 15 mths old and this picture captured her being a ham for the camera. Even now she can stop in mid-cry, smile for the camera, and go back to crying. We believe she is destined to be an actress or something dramatic.

Raider Football

On 9/5/08 my oldest son made his 1st ever touchdown! The ball was thrown to him in the endzone and he caught it. I could feel his smile all the way in the stands. Later in the game he sacked the quarterback twice, he was on fire! The other parents asked me what we were feeding him and considering that he is 6'2", 170lbs and eats everything it was hard to say exactly what did it. I was so very proud of his performance and I can tell he was too.

My son's football team was awesome this year (2008)! We have been in this league for 6 years and this was his last year to play for them. We had a tremendous amount of talent, including my son of course, and they not only went undefeated against some very tough teams, but for most of the games the score was 31-0 and we won the superbowl 31-0! Our family has spent every fall with this team and we will truly miss them in 2009. I can't even listen to the National Anthem anymore with out waiting to yell VIKINGS!! at the end of it, like we did at every game. :-)

We are so very proud of my son and his teammates.

WELCOME!

This is my first time ever posting to a blog! I am excited and hope to begin interacting with other scrappers, moms, family members or anyone that would like to leave a message.

Like I said in my profile, I have a scrap area in my basement where I like to organize my 70+ acrylic stamps and make pages for my children and cards for relatives. I really like when my husband comes downstairs to work out, the kids are down there playing games and the cat sits at my feet. I am very family oriented so when they are with me I feel at peace.

I also love when we have family gatherings, which we have every month, because then we can all be together and laugh and act silly. When I was growing up we didn't have a lot of that so I am so glad that my husband has a large extended family and that they are so close. My children have grown up with their entire family around them and they love it.

Feel free to leave me a message and share whatever you like, (keep it clean :-)).
